The One Thing Motivated People Focus On Every Day
There are two types of people in the world:
The ones who get what they want and the ones who don't.
And despite what you may have heard, the difference isn't a matter of luck or coincidence.
People who consistently get what they want do certain things that others do not. They think, feel, and act in a way that brings them success.
If you pick up on their secrets and follow their lead, you'll get the same results.
I'm going to share an idea with you that successful people use every time they set their sights on a new goal or ambition. When you use it, which is really easy to do, you'll experience the same great results they get every time.
The Wrong Way - Don't Do This!
There are two ways to think about your goals. And as you've probably guessed, successful people choose one way while the rest choose the other.
And this is where the trouble starts.
They way most people go about it actually kill their drive on the spot. They do the opposite of what a successful person does and in a few moments the motivation is gone.
So what are they doing wrong? Here's a quick example. Let's say Harry wanted to write a book. If he's like most people, he focuses on the final product - a finished book.
Harry hasn't even written a single word and already he's overwhelmed with the idea of putting it all together. He's got to split his idea into the right chapters, think of a title, find an editor, get the cover designed, and on and on.
After a few seconds of thinking about the goal like this, anyone in their right mind would be scared off. And that's usually what happens.
There's a better way, and it's the way every success thinks about their goals every day.
The Right Way
So if Harry shouldn't focus solely on the end result, what should he think about?
Just one, simple thing - the first step. That's it. Not what he has to do tomorrow, next week, or next year. Harry, if he's going to be successful, should think about what he has to do first.
With this in mind, he's not overwhelmed - he's excited.
Instead of thinking, 'How am I going to do all of this?' he'll be saying 'That's easy. I can do that.'
And when you take the first step, it's a whole new ball game. Momentum starts to build and your confidence goes through the roof. You stop thinking about what you want and actually start doing something about it.
All from taking just the first small step.
But that's not all. Once you focus on and take that first step, you need to...
Focus on the next one!
When you really think about it, every goal is just a series of small steps brought together. There aren't many goals you can start in finish in one single step; they're usually made up of smaller pieces.
And while Harry might not be confident about writing an entire book, he has no problem writing a few words or sentences.
It's not a complicated idea, but that doesn't mean it isn't extremely powerful. So let's use it right now.
What is the first thing you have to do to get what you want? Just the smallest, easiest step you need to take. And if you've already taken it, what's the next small step you have to take?
Don't focus on anything else; just think about the next step in the process. When you do this, you'll be motivated, not overwhelmed. You'll take action, not procrastinate yet again.
Now, this tip will build your confidence and make sure you do something about what you want, but what if you were able to simply say what you wanted and automatically feel driven to make it happen?
It wouldn't have anything to do with willpower or trying to force it; you'd actually want to do whatever it took to succeed.
